Below are some of my favorite things in Truckee, California; 13 miles from gorgeous Lake Tahoe, and the beautiful place I get to work and live!
(For those of you returning from Burning Man this weekend, Truckee is off Highway 80, about 20 minutes west of Reno.)
Truckee – Dine
Moodys – go for the Caesar salad, beef tartare, champagnes by the glass, specials & game dishes. Look for the handsome Bostonian co-owner, Mark Estee, www.MoodysBistro.com, serving 11:30 - 9ish.

New Moon – health food, parking, wine, cheese, organic produce, etc.
Joe Coffee – patio, parking, great coffee, bagels, sandwiches
Wild Cherry – great coffee, French Moka Java coffee beans, patio, parking, wifi, people watching, bagels, sandwiches
Trio Wine Bar - go for the ahi and champagnes by the glass. Old Victorian on Donner Pass Road with a beautiful walnut bar and front room with view of Mt. Rose, open mike night Fridays. Open Tuesday to Saturday, 4 p.m., parking
Cottonwood for view & drinks
Dragonfly for sushi with Sam, Tuesday to Saturday starting at 5 p.m. Ask for "omakase" (I entrust all to the expert sushi chef, or something like that ...) and Sam will delight your tastebuds with his exquisite selections!
Tacos Jalisco – go for carnitas tacos at a great price!
